Between the archetype and the visceral

In this work, structured geometric shapes contrast with the expressive brutality of the gesture and the material. In the center, a red sphere stands out against a background of controlled chaos. The yellow structure suggests an attempt to contain the visceral impulse. This painting evokes the struggle between what we are inside and what shapes us on the outside. In this work, Dangô presents two symbols of Jungian psychoanalysis: the wounded red sphere evokes the self in transformation, undergoing the process of individualization. The solid, architectural yellow lines can symbolize the ego or the consciousness, which tries to contain the unconscious. The work measures 60 by 80 centimeters and was made using mixed media on canvas.
